Well, that was fun... NOT!

Uh... I think I just infected my system by... downloading Windows critical updates. O.o;; I already had SP2, so it was just some updates, but after the reboot, my virus software stopped coming up with the system and I couldn't access the internet.
Tried for over an hour to figure it out and finally ended up doing a system restore. It doesn't seem likely... but I'm afraid to try it again.
Anybody else had any trouble?

*waves hand*

I did just after I returned from Y-Con (a week and some ago?). I did a restore as well, and haven't had a problem I've been ignoring the update button that keeps coming up now. Too afraid of stuff crashing.

I ended up taking SP2 off my system. Too many bugs and issues. I'll wait until it's been out a lot longer before I try again.

You already know, in great detail, how I feel about SP2... Goddamn paternalistic megalopoly... I ain't touching those updates; I don't care how much it blinks, whines and screams at me.

Have a truffle; it'll help cut the taste of screwdriver.

Ooooh, yes! That Service Pack 2 killed my system big time, and kept on telling me obvious things as if I was missing half my brain. I had to reconfigure a whole buncha things to get it working properly again. =.=;

Honestly, when were computers made for people who couldn't think for themselves?

I ended up taking all the Service Packs *off* my computer again, since it kept shutting down the Windows explorer whenever I needed to work directly with my files. I figured that since I *do* have an extra firewall and virus program, I don't really need those SPs... especially not, if they screw up my system. :(

eep! damn

OH damn! thanks for the warnings . I ended up downloading the SP2 onto my laptop and it has been working fine, but i have not done any of the up graded the system. I do not think i will be doing that either from what everyone is saying. Thank you for the heads up

Maria

::shudders:: I avoid anything that came out later than Professional 2000. and patches. patches are *bad*. they seem to do nothing but rip *more* holes and cause more problems. I got a nice long lecture about them from my god-father. he's a comp sci professer at OSU and tends to be *very* oppinionated when it comes to windows.

Oh yeah, I had trouble. I did the good old system restore thingy too because my virus scan wouldn't work, and then the darn thing denied me access to my dics drive, and oh look, I need that thing! Crapping, sanctimonious SP2! Bleah!
