i had three hamsters growing up, and the one was just a complete psychopath... mean, evil, nasty... that'd probably be the one heero picked out, and then duo would spend the rest of his life trying to "accidentally" lose it so that heero wouldn't get his feelings hurt that duo might want it out of his house because it keeps biting him and peeing on the carpet.
...on the other hand, a carpet-peeing hamster might be considered the "hamster of old age", which he'd forever associate with waking up with a headache and puffy eyes. in that case, i hope heero catches on, but doesn't admit it, and starts to screw with him when he begins to panic-dye his hair for fear of it going gray. heero: [holding the gray hamster up behind duo in the bathroom, so that it reflects in the mirror next to him] "you know, sometimes this little critter makes me think of you..." duo: [immediately freaks and excuses himself to the drugstore to buy more hair dye]
